THE KILLERS are one of the most popular Indie bands in the world; this could be due to the fact that nearly everyone loves them. Formed in 2002, the band is made up from Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr.

They released their first debut album ‘Hot Fuss’ in 2004, it was a hit with Indie fans around the world. ‘Mr Brightside’ out of the ‘Hot Fuss’ album had a UK top ten hit. "Somebody Told Me," "Mr. Brightside," "Smile like You Mean It," and "All These Things That I've Done" all became worldwide chart hits, and Hot Fuss peaked at number seven on the Billboard Top 200. Their second album was Sam's Town, released in early October 2006 and sold over 700,000 copies worldwide in the first week of release, with a No. 2 debut on the United World chart.

In their 11 years together the band have produced 4 studio albums and released 19 singles. They have also produced 21 music videos in both America and England. Now that’s an achievement.

Hannah smith is 16 years old from North West England and she is a huge Killers fan, she truly believes that they are the best Indie band around.

She said ‘I just love their music, the beats are steady and you can really focus on them, the lyrics have a truth to them, like looking inside the artist’s mind, It can fit in with any kind of mood.’ The band’s career hit off at the right time, Indie was just becoming more popular, and because it was different it became popular. We really can’t get enough of them. ‘The Killers’ have taken their time in the spotlight being one of the lucky indie bands to get a lot of attention, Hannah said ‘They’re just so different to other bands and there’s a song to suit anyone and everyone, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t know one of their songs.’

An American alternative rock band from Las Vegas. It’s a wonder how they are so popular in the UK. Asking Hannah it seems that ‘The killers’ fans especially like the lead singer Brandon Flowers. The multi-talented singer and song writer seems to be catching all the girls’ eyes, even though he didn’t start out in The Killers. Brandon started out in a totally different band called ‘Blush Response’. He dropped out after refusing to travel to L.A, California with them.

Brandon has influenced his audience and captivates them. Hannah said ‘I think that they have influenced me because no matter whether or not you think you’ll be great or even if you’ll make it, you will get there in the end.’

And this is the message I would imagine he hopes to set across his audience, She also mentioned Brandon’s previous struggle with his career, ‘Even though he didn’t have a brilliant band experience at first, he then followed his dream and love of music and tried again, and I think that a very difficult thing to do’. If that isn’t what you would call true commitment then how about this, she has been to 4 concerts and 2 festivals up and down the country. ‘The Killers put on one heck of a live show each and every time that they go out on stage and perform. Anyone who has been fortunate enough to see them up close and live will likely attest to the fact that

The Killers as a whole are simply stunning appear to be possessed by the spirit that is their music into putting out the absolute best show possible for their fans. Their live sound makes one realize that they are the real deal and not some band that is all studio magic.’-review from Starpluse.com

It’s a good job Hannah’s family are big fans, especially her Father who got her listening to Indie music in the first place. She has over 30 different posters of the band and Brandon up on her wall, who could beat that?

A telegraph review from one of The Killer’s concert’s truly tell us that the band really do know how to please a crowd. ‘If The Killers really lived up to their name, they would make particularly brutal hit men. Despite their sleek, sci-fi look and expressionless faces, their set exhibits little of the studied cool professional assassins…They are pop’s Terminators, relentless in their ambition to land the knock-out blow.’

The band should be especially proud of the support behind them; After all it’s the fans that keep them going. The band will be going on hiatus after their concert in Australia. Hannah said ‘I’m sad, but at the same time happy, they need a break, and they work so hard Dave said that they haven’t had a break in six years! So they deserve a massive break... as long as they get back together.’

Next month we have an interview with The Killers, on their break...
