Evaluation
1./ In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Screen grabs available if unable to see slideshow.
2./ How does your media represent particular groups?
I have represented Indie fans in a positive way, I think I have shown them as being very dedicated to there music and listening to it truthfully. I have also represented them as not being afraid to be a huge fan (in my double page spread) the bigger the fan the better you are for my magazine. My main image may connote that they are very serious when it comes to music and take it seriously. The other pictures I have used in my magazine, I have made them seem very nice, friendly just like normal people, rather than the rock, emo stereotype they are usually connected with.
3./ What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
'Information on IPC media :' IPC Media (formerly International Publishing Company ltd) is one of the United Kingdom's leading consumer magazine and digital publishers, with a large portfolio selling over 350 million copies each year.IPC Media groups titles under five magazine divisions: Connect (women's weeklies such as Now Magazine and Look), Inspire (leisure and specialist), Ignite! (men's lifestyle and entertainment), SouthBank (women's lifestyle and home interest) and TX (portfolio of television titles). In addition, there is Marketforce, the UK's leading magazine distribution business. '
`Information on BAUER MEDIA: 'The Bauer Media Group (Bauer Verlagsgruppe) is a large German publishing company based in Hamburg, which operates in 15 countries worldwide.Bauer Verlagsgruppe is managed by four generations of the Bauer family. Out of these three media institutions I think that BAUER MEDIA would distribute my magzine because they do well in publishing by publishing 3 well known music magazines; Q, Mojo and Kerrang! spreading these over 15 countries worldwide. they are also very succesful with other well know magazines like; Closer, GRAZIA, heat and more!

I would say my skills have improved because I can help others in the class with the programme's confidently, as well as using them confidently myself. Because I can access and know what tools are and where they are I do not need to ask for a lot of help , and if i do need help using the programmes i do not hestitate to ask.

7./ Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?
Picture of music magazine front and contents
Before I started to make my music magazine I was asked to make a preliminary Front Cover and Contents page. There are a lot of difference's to both magazines because I have gained more skills throughout the process. At the beginning of the year when we first started our preliminary task, we had already used photoshop so we were familiar on how to use it , but we were introduced to Quark which we had never been taught before. I have learnt more about how to construct a magazine and the layout. The codes and conventions have also become clearer to me as I understand what would be seen in a magazine e.g layout, pictures , how many fonts. I believe my skills have gotten stronger from when I did the preliminary task to now.
My music magazine develops the codes and conventions of a real music magazine.
I have chosen the Indie genre because I am familiar with Indie music and read indie magazines .
